Rough Fridays: Dress Code

Been a long week, Heroites…. but I’ll have a new comic this weekend for sure!

In the meantime, thought I’d share a recent rough for this storyline. Every time it’s a “new day” at The Hero Business, I have to figure out what everyone is wearing. I never liked cartoons where people are dressed “generic”, so I try and give each of the characters a signature style, of sorts. Especially the ladies, who I try and dress realistically and not so similar all the time.

Lindsay is the newest character in the mix, so I had to finalize his design as well.

There’s a lot of googling going on, to try and keep the characters stylish but not too “of the moment”… which can “date” a comic pretty fast.

Who knew there would be so much costume designing in cartooning?

Collective of Heroes Secret Santa

Recently, The Hero Business was invited to join The Collective of Heroes (“The premiere collection of superhero comics on the web”). You can check out other great comics right here!

Some of our members had a Secret Santa gift exchange, anonymously drawing guest art for each other’s comics. If you can figure out who drew each illustration, you could win a $50 credit on Comixology! See if you can guess mine right here. Happy holiday hunting, Heroites!

New York Comic-Con Commission List Is Open

New York Comic-Con is almost here. The East Coast’s biggest comic-con is coming up, and this year I’ll be on the show floor. I’m pretty excited.

You can find me at booth 1262 in the Small Press area, where I’ll have Hero Business comics and merchandise, along with prints and cards of my artwork. I’ll also be sharing a cozy corner booth with fellow “The Line It Is Drawn” artist, John Trumbull.

I’ll also be taking commissions at the show on a first-come, first-serve basis. If anyone wants to be guaranteed a piece, just contact me before the show. I plan to get a few done at home to bring along if I have the time. Commissions are $30/per character. You can see previous Comic-Con Commission Samples here.

You can get on my list by e-mailing me a request here.

Hope to see you all there!

Well, it was another fine year at the Connecticut ComiCONN (in my own hometown, so I could even sleep in late!)

And with that, a few commissions….

Here’s Power Girl!

Shazam! It’s Captain Marvel!

And lastly, a Black Cat commission (at the moment, and unclaimed one!)

Thanks to everyone who stopped by… you guys make the shows so much fun.
