The comic book movie season has begun! And with that, fanboys (and fan-villains) are sure to have some expectations and opinions!

A BONUS piece this week, Heroites! “The Hero Business”, Bruce Timm Style! In honor of his departure as DC Entertainment animation producer. Thanks for years of awesome toons, Bruce!

Funny thing, I’d always considered Timm a HUGE influence, so forcing myself to draw in his style was really an eye opener… The staff looks quite different, don’t they?

At the Hero Business, you have to be specific with those yahoos from the temp agency!

(Also, I think we’ll be seeing Gopher again. I rather like him)

I wish I had some sketches to share from Boston Comic Con, which was scheduled for this past weekend… but the show was post-poned due to the epic manhunt. I’m just glad the Bostonians are safe, and I look forward to the rescheduled show in the summer!

Sentient GPS? I think this it explains stuff like this. Don’t let that cool British accent fool you — your GPS is trying to run you off the road!

Also, it looks like the Boston Comic Con is still a go (my thoughts are with those touched by the Boston Marathon tragedy).

Huh. I guess that explains the Bad Business Boom of the late 90s!

Now Flix has returned to round out the cast, with roles for all the Hero Business players featured in the last 4 story lines! Here’s a few of my favorite choices from Flix’s cast:

Laura Prepon as the voice of Morgan Sinclaire, PR director
Flix sea: “Prepon has one of those voices that perfectly fits the bill for Morgan’s character, thus her being my pick. I could easily see her pulling off Morgan’s poised and disciplined manner very effectively, until she turns into…no, no, I ain’t spillin’…. ”

Wendy Schaal as the voice of Trixie Templeton
Flix sez: “I chose Schaal because of her voice of Francine on American Dad (which I think has a bit of a classic Lois Lane-esque sound), and thought she’d be killer as Trixie.”

Curtis Armstrong as the voice of Buddy Blathers
Flix sez: “I chose Armstrong for his voice work as Snot on “American Dad!” and “Dan Vs.” (whose lead character looks a bit like Buddy). I think he’d do a great riff on perceived “fanboys-turned-creators”. ”

David Spade as the voice of Primstone
Flix sez: “With David Spade as Primstone, here’s what went down: when I read Primstone’s lines, all of a sudden, Spade’s snooty receptionist character from Saturday Night Live came to mind. Think about it….. ” (as a fan of the under-rated “Just Shoot Me,” I co-sign this choice in spades!)

Mayim Bialik as the voice of Wallflower
Flix sez: “Wallflower, Glamazon and H-Kit’s former teammate, has plant-based powers and–well, basically, think Amy Farrah Fowler (Bialik’s character on Big Bang Theory), only not super-smart and with more chlorophyll, out for revenge. I think Bialik could have fun with that…. ”

Yup, even super-heroes have to do taxes! Geez, save the universe and Uncle Sam still takes his cut.

We’re back with a series of Coffee Breaks before we begin our fifth storyline.

Since I’m a sucker for holiday-themed episodes of anything, this week’s comic is St. Patrick’s Day themed. And it also introduces Shennanigan – a character I’ve been wanting to introduce for a while now. And he has important ties to one of our cast, too!

Also, with my end of week getting more and more crunched with deadlines, I’m switching the HB update day to MONDAYS, so mark your calendars, Heroites!

As for Fridays… I’ll see if I can inject a little TGIF into the week with some fun behind-the-scenes stuff as well as other Walko-centric artwork to share.
